I’m so thankful that we’ve chosen to homeschool. We have the flexibility to go and do, when a traveling situation presents itself. We’re at a beautiful resort on one of the most beautiful beaches in the United States.
Joy is working on a journal entry for IEW, her writing program. She writes, “The Wondrous Beach. As I gaze out my window of the towering Luau hotel, as far as I can see, the surface of the Earth is covered with salty water and sand.”
So, we’re schooling from the beach. We won’t be doing a lot of the touristy treats. They don’t appeal much to me anyway. We’ll be schooling in the morning and spending our afternoons riding bikes, kayaking or shelling on the beach. When it warms up later in the week, we’ll don our shorts and spend some time in the sun, soaking up the rays to carry back home for those cold months ahead. Like the mouse in Leo Lionni’s book, Frederick, we’ll remember the warmth, the sound of the lap of the waves and the crisp, blue water.
Yep, schooling at the beach makes me happy.
What about you? What makes you happy this marvelous Monday morning?
