Missing the country

Georgia Back RoadWhen we go home to south Georgia, I am reminded of the sights and sounds that I so desperately miss from my rural roots.  I love our home in Augusta.  I am thankful that we are in the middle of more action and activity than we can possibly take in, but there is something so sweet and tender about the sound of lowing cattle, the sight of a combine bringing in a field of hay or the smell of freshly turned peanuts. As we headed home yesterday, I tucked away these memories for later, so that I can recall them and reminisce about a place dear to my heart: the country.
