The word kEEpS coming up: FEAR.
I know I have to deal with it ….
not the word ….
but the emotion.
Last weekend, I spent time in North Carolina
among incredible women and mountainous beauty.
The theme that was woven into the tapestry of every
conversation, song and thought was b.r.a.v.e.r.y.
I guess …
no, I know ….
that God is not finished.
I have a long way to go.
After another weekend filled with rich blessing of wonderful fellowship,
I sat across the wooden dining table facing a friend who,
with a smile, slid this beautiful gift in my direction and said …
“When I saw this, I knew I had to get it for you.”
It was created by an artisan who showed her wares this weekend right outside Madison in Newborn, Georgia.
And I think it no coincidence that Pat’s last name …. is “Free!!”
I’ve given a great deal of thought to bravery … courage.
I don’t do things that I should … for fear of doing them “wrong.”
I don’t do things that I should …. for fear of making someone angry.
I don’t do things that I should …. for fear of letting myself down.
All this fear is p.a.r.a.l.y.z.i.n.g.
There among the beauty of people who are brave …
in the midst of those who were strong
across the table from a friend who continus to live courageously …
I found myself gifted with a reminder …
a medallion on a cord
with the word “COURAGE” hammered into its metal flesh.
Oh, that courage might be that much a part of my being!
Courage Makes Me Happy as I begin this week.
How about you?
What makes YOU happy this marvelous Monday morn?
