May your weekend

May your weekend
be just what you need ….
whether your hours are mapped out with commitments
or you are left to your own devices,
may you find a way to see the beauty
and experience the joy
that refreshes your soul.

May your weekend be filled with what your soul needs

Downtown Augusta, Georgia, JB White's Building, New Moon, Book Tavern

May your weekend be filled with exactly what your soul needs
whether that be
hiding within the shadows to draw you to stillness,
standing with a scattering of nature at your feet,
walking within an outlined path to show you where to go,
relaxing with sunshine warming your front
or gazing upward where you can see blue sky.
May you find what your soul needs exactly where you are …
in your home, while you are out and about caring for errands or
on an intentional outing to a place of adventure.
May your weekend be lovely and filled with
exactly, precisely, specifically what your soul needs.

May your weekend be fret-free

Craft Store Wisdom

This storage box made me laugh out loud as I stood in the aisle at a local craft store.
I posted this photo on Facebook and had a friend comment,
“I just need that on a sign I can hang on the front door.” Hahahhahahahaaaa.

Just admit it. There will always be socks without a match, papers that aren’t filed,
and home repair projects that need to be started or long to be finished.
What a gift to admit, “There will always be things that are left unorganized or unfinished.”
So, do what you can and let the rest go … at least for now.
This weekend, if you’re able, set aside some time to leave the fretting behind
and just enjoy … relax … rest.

If you can’t take the whole weekend off, find a few hours to get away.

Kayak

Rent a kayak and get on the water.  People-watch at the mall. Ride a bike.
Read a book. Go see a movie. Take a hike. Take a nap on the couch.
Put together a jigsaw puzzle. Call an old friend. Have coffee with a new one.
Sit outside facing the sun for 20 minutes – no matter the temperature.
Buy a new CD and listen to it over and over. Sew or crochet something for yourself.
Bake some cookies. Begin a new journal. Get a massage, a haircut, or a manicure.
Think of something you would love to do but don’t MAKE the time to do for yourself,
. . . . and do it.

Put aside the worries of bills to pay, things to do, places to go and things that need to be fixed.
We must care for ourselves  – rest, eat well, exercise, sleep, rejuvenate – to function well.
What good are we if all we have to offer
to our God, our spouse, our children, our friends or our co-workers
is a worn-out, exhausted, down-trodden self?
Find something to do that is rejuvenating for you … and do it.

Have a fabulous, energizing weekend, friend.

May your weekend offer some silent

A drippy, chilly Autumn morning

In a world of pressure and drear, find the beauty.
In a world of busy, find time to be still.
In days of loud, make time to be silent.
In a weekend of frantic rushing, choose to slow down.
Make it a choice. Let someone with fewer items go in front of you.
Allow cars to merge lanes or pull out of a side road.
Take time to chat with someone you do not know.
Drop your change into a red bucket with a bell ringer.
Engage in interested conversation with your cashier.
Carry candy canes in your purse. Share one and a smile.
In a drive thru line, pay for the meal behind you.
When stress is elevated, breathe deeper and call on God.
Sing to yourself. Skip. Wear a scarf that makes you happy.
Find ways to help yourself. And pass it on.
And have a lovely weekend, friends.

May your weekend offer Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving

No matter what life looks like …. busy or empty … chaotic or slow, may you search and find joy.
Whether you find yourself tending a tiny, exhausting newborn, or loud, demanding toddlers,
surrounded by raucous, outrageous teens,  sitting in an empty nest or anything in between …
may you find the joy in today.
There may be a dozen around your table or you may find yourself alone.
Whether you are at the start of a marriage with a new family
or alone because your life and family fell apart, may you find joy.
No matter what life looks like … there is reason to rejoice.
Praise because your struggles make you stronger.
Be thankful for warmth or food or shelter  …. in excess or scant … there is reason to praise.
May you find those joys. May you search for the blessings. May you count it all joy.

Happy Thanksgiving.

May your weekend bring cheer

Lately,  the topic of cruising has come up in conversations. A cruise is such a treat … a gift … a treasure!
There is such pure joy in getting away from all responsibilities and distractions.
It is a lavish indulgence to have someone pamper you, cook for you, think ahead with you in mind and clean up behind you.
And doesn’t it seem as though every sense is more keenly aware of the surroundings?
A cruise generally takes you to an exotic, adventurous or splendidly gorgeous place.
It is a wonderful thing to spend time to rejuvenate, relax and energize.

As we turn the corner to move from fall into the Thanksgiving / Christmas / Hanukkah / Kwanzaa holidays,
may you find a way to spend a few hours pampered … away from responsibilities and distractions.
Make a way to rejuvenate. Find a way to relax. Make time to energize.
And may this weekend, include at least a small sliver of time for that.Bahamas cruise - Photo Credit: Linda Baskin

Cheers!
