I love analogies, metaphors and parables. We understand concepts better when we can work their ideas into a second format that helps us solidify the basic idea.
Jesus told many stories in parable form. He would take a spiritual concept and weave it into word picture so that people could grasp the principle or idea. He often used stories about money or plants/farming because people could understand them so easily.
Through the years I have asked God to talk to me in parables so that I could relate spiritual principles to my children in a way they could understand. The more I look and listen, the more I hear.
I love those “eureka” moments and still look for them … though my little people are no longer gathered ’round my knees.
Some of those stories, I share here on my blog.
